More than a thousand hearts were broken today as the devastating news broke among fans of the rock group the Bombastics. It was true, lead singer/guitarist Brion “Robin” Jones had finally married his ‘muse’, Mimi Juliette Lennon.

Jones, 35, married his long time sweetheart, Lennon, 33,  in two ceremonies ─ one public, one private on Friday, February 14th. The couple, who have been together for about 3 years, were engaged last summer after Jones proposed at a live concert by singing the old Bobby Sherman hit “Julie, Do Ya Love Me?” to Lennon. Jones is the son of Honeybear Rory Kent and the late Rolling Stones guitarist, Brian Jones. Lennon is the daughter of writer/musician/activist Patti Collins Lennon and the late John Lennon, former founder of the Beatles.

The first ceremony was held in the Strawberry Fields section of Central Park . Curious onlookers were told that the couple, flanked by close family and friends including the other Bombastics, were shooting a music video for Jones’ upcoming solo album with Jones’ cousin, director Kate Harrison, in charge. In actuality, a New York City Justice of the Peace conducted the short ceremony while video cameras rolled and lights helped the guests brave the frigid cold. The couple had decided to do this “in order to include Lennon’s father” in the proceedings. John Lennon was murdered only a few yards from the public site which is now dedicated in his name.

The couple and guests then drove out to Long Island for the second, private ceremony and reception at the bride’s mother’s estate in Cold Spring Harbor . There, the bride, decked out in an Italian Renaissance style gown, said to be a Jasmine Jagger original, was given away by her mother and her mother’s long time companion, photographer Matthew Marx. Other guests were said to include the groom’s mother; the groom’s aunt, Honeybear Annie Kent Harrison and her husband, George Harrison; Honeybear Jamie McCartney and her husband, Paul McCartney; the groom’s brother and sister, designer Jasmine Jagger and actor Cameron Jagger; the bride’s brother, Sean Stuart Lennon and his girlfriend, model/actress Roni Yurimasa; Honeybear Sandy Ludlow and her husband, actor David McCallum; Honeybear Meg Blessing and her husband, Honeybears manager Michael Ludlow; Bombastic members Ethan Burke, Stephen “Oscar” Meyer, Carl Jaresh and Khassie Cantland; Best Man Eric Ludlow of the Court Jesters; Court Jester and actor, Colin Ludlow; Tom Petty; Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters; and actor Kenneth Branagh. The groom’s former step-father, Mick Jagger, was not in attendance nor were any of the other Rolling Stones as the band was en route to Australia for a series of concerts on their world tour.

After the wedding, Jones and Lennon stayed in New York City long enough to attend the anti-War rally in front of the United Nations Building along with their respective mothers, and then jetted off to a honeymoon later in the day. They’re both expected to be in London at the end of next week where Jones, with the rest of his band,  will be performing in an all-star tribute concert to honour his uncle, George Harrison, on his 60th birthday.

Jones first made headlines when the first Bombastics album, 1000 Broken Hearts was released in early 1990. It, and he quickly became a college radio favorite. Considered to be a a teenage heart throb, Jones had been romantically linked to a number of musicians and actress including Bombastics bassist, Khassie Cantland. Prior to the wedding, he was working on his first solo album in Los Angeles . Lennon, on the other hand, is seen as an enigmatic figure. Despite her famous parentage, she’s managed to stay out of the limelight, choosing a more academic path. She is currently the Bombastics manager.
